Gladheart Farm is a 7.5 acre Farm located in the Oakley neighborhood of East Asheville, NC. We are a community of families and single people all working together to create a sanctuary for people, animals and plants. We all live on the land and operate the farm and our herbal tea business to support ourselves. We live together with a common belief that creates a common life with a commonwealth, all living for the sake of each other. We want this peace to be reflected in our care for the place we live, the food we grow and the animals we raise. Presently we are growing crops organically on 100, 100 foot beds, using a walk behind tractor and hand tools. The sections of fields are seasonally rotated between crops and many pollinating type plants are used. We are learning the way to manage the soil with cover crops and our own compost. We are looking forward to growing more herbs and making oils and hydrosols for our people. Our herd of Nubian and Saanen dairy goats is growing as we develop the infrastructure for a goat dairy and raising them on managed pastures. Our barn is under renovation whenever we have a chance and is becoming a hospitable place for our goats and guests. There are plans this season to have an on the farm store market, and a "you harvest" and farm tour day this farming season. We welcome visitors anytime, and volunteers all the time. We have had many woofers, and travelers stay with us. Come visit.
